the character I least understand
Characterisation is strong on this show, and I haven't watched it in three or four years, so the characters I remember best are the ones I understand! Probably Tim Riggins.
interactions I enjoyed the most
Tyra and Tami. Matt and his grandma. Tami and Julie. Coach Taylor and pretty much everyone on the team.
the character who scares me the most
Uh, none? Though I imagine if I re-watched it would be hard to separate Landry from the Breaking Bad character played by the same actor at first.
the character who is most like me
Tyra is one of the characters I most identify with in any fictional setting, so.
hottest looking character
Tyra and Jess. (To be clear, I don't *look like* Tyra!)
one thing I dislike about my fave character
For Tyra: it's not so much a character trait as a plot line. You can probably guess the one. It's everyone's most hated plot line.
My other favourite characters are Matt and Jess. I can't think of a single thing I dislike about them!
one thing I like about my hated character
There are no characters I hate, but my least favourites are Tim and Landry. But I found Tim's storyline in the last season or two pretty compelling. Landry was occasionally funny and had an interesting relationship with Tyra. On his end there was a lot of Nice Guy stuff that bugged me, but I also saw that she gained a lot from their friendship. So he has that going for him.
a quote or scene that haunts me
Matt Saracen burying his father
a death that left me indifferent
Uh, I can only remember one death on the show, and it certainly didn't leave me indifferent. Not for the character who died, but for the effect his death had on others.
a character I wish died but didn’t
This is a terrible question for me! I can only think of one character in any fictional universe who I wish had died (sooner), and that's Walter White.
my ship that never sailed
Tyra/Julie!

I feel the same about Landry in that he's just such a doormat at times, but then I have to keep in mind that he's a teenager and realistic teenagers aren't necessarily wise with worldly experience. They sort of addressed it, and he did attempt a backbone - I appreciated that.
Yeah, the death questions don't fit this show as much as some others. Matt losing his dad was pretty a pretty powerful story, even though we barely knew his dad.

Definitely Paul.
interactions I enjoyed the most
I love when this show puts unexpected characters together: Helena and Alison, or Felix and Art. But my very favourite relationships are those between Sarah and Felix and Sarah and Helena.
the character who scares me the most
At this point in the series probably Susan Duncan. But villains on this show have a way of getting taken down a notch or incorporated into the fold to varying extents.
the character who is most like me
Probably Cosima, in that we both think in ways influenced by our scientific training (for better and worse).
hottest looking character
Felix is so beautiful and has amazing hair.
one thing I dislike about my fave character
It breaks my heart when Sarah is mean to Felix.
one thing I like about my hated character
I liked how Paul died?
a quote or scene that haunts me
"Haunts" isn't quite the right word, but: that moment in Season 3, when Helena is in the tunnel and eats the scorpion she's been hallucinating and decides to go back and save Sarah. Season 3 was my least favourite season but that's one of the most memorable moments in the series for me.
a death that left me indifferent
I can't think of any. Even the deaths we're meant to cheer on -- e.g., when Helena kills the people who are after Alison and Donny for, uh, something related to drug money -- gave me *some* emotional response. Usually the one it intended.
a character I wish died but didn’t
Again, I can't think of any.
my ship that never sailed
I want more Felix/Colin, but I understand why Colin was scared off, what with cops busting in on their sexy times.
Also I kinda ship Siobhan/Paul.

the character I least understand
I feel like I really understand all of these characters. I mean, it's a character-driven show with seven seasons! But, apparently Craig was promoted to main cast in Season 7, and all I remember about him is the shouting, so I'll go with him.
interactions I enjoyed the most
Oh god, how to begin? ALL THE INTERACTIONS. Leslie and Ann, Leslie and April, Leslie and Ron, Leslie and everyone. Donna and Tom. Tom and Ben. April and Ron. April and Chris.
And a special shout-out to Leslie and Marlene, who we definitely didn't see enough of.
the character who scares me the most
I suppose Ron could be a bit scary at times!
the character who is most like me
Ben! We have pretty similar personalities. Except I don't make a living slashing budgets and eliminating jobs. (Fuck Ben, but also I love Ben.)
hottest looking character
Ben is one of the few male characters on TV who I actually find attractive. As is Chris! Also I love Aprils' fashion choices, though I'm not sure hot is the word I'd use.
one thing I dislike about my fave character
As much as I love Leslie's inspirational get-up-and-go, there's a real thread of accepting austerity in the show and her characterization. Slash the parks budget? Yes, we'll fight it. But we'll also get corporate sponsors and make people work extra long hours with no overtime pay! Because they love it so much! It's a little knit that picks at me throughout most of the series.
one thing I like about my hated character
There are no characters I hate, but I do hate the Jerry jokes. And, on the other hand, I love that Jerry actually has a good home life and is a talented artist despite people's mocking.

Lil' Sebastian. Just kidding! Lil Sebastian is great and the episode where he died was great too.

the character I least understand
John Reese. I mean, in some ways his motivations are very clear. But I found Jim Caviezel's performance incredibly flat, and I don't know if it was because Reese is supposed to be totally emotionally non-demonstrative or...?
interactions I enjoyed the most
ROOT/SHAW. My first (only?) hateship. They are so good.
the character who scares me the most
Definitely Root, though that was starting to change by the time I stopped watching, and might have even more if I'd continued.
the character who is most like me
Lol, none. I guess maybe Finch? I would like to say Carter, because I loved her dearly, but she is a lot tougher than me and also a lot more idealistic about her job and the world than I am.
hottest looking character
I guess Reese, in a pretty standard view of hotness. I like Finch's nerdy hotness.
one thing I dislike about my fave character
I was kind of astounded about how naive Carter was shown to be in the flashbacks of her time as an interrogator in Iraq. I think that someone in her role would need to either very clearly and cynically understand the purpose of the US occupation, and have an "I'm just doing my job" mindset, or they'd be hella racist. (Or both, really.) She was neither.
one thing I like about my hated character
I don't remember hating a character. I remember being pretty put off by Reese and slowly warming up to him at least a little, but...that's about all.
a quote or scene that haunts me
Haunts isn't the right word, but Root's reveal was fucking awesome. (And horrible -- she shoots some well-meaning person in the head if I remember correctly.)
a death that left me indifferent
None that I can remember.
a character I wish died but didn’t
I'm sure if I remembered the show well, I'd have a better answer, but I don't, so I don't. If one NYPD cop had to die, I'd sure prefer it was Fusco to Carter.
my ship that never sailed
It remains unclear to me how much Root/Shaw sailed. I think they became a pretty solid ship? But then Root died, right? That is not my vision of their ship.

I don't think there are any significant characters I don't have a good grasp on. Riley? Andrew?
interactions I enjoyed the most
First and foremost, the central four characters and their evolving group dynamic. Also: Buffy and Dawn. Buffy and Giles. Buffy and Willow. Buffy and Spike. Dawn and Spike. Willow and Xander.
To narrow it down to something more specific, Buffy and Dawn (and Joyce) in Season 5, between "No Place Like Home" and "Forever", pretty much owns my heart.
Ugh, there are so many good relationships on this show. <3
the character who scares me the most
I think the mayor can be pretty scary! Most notably when he enters the library in late S3. Also Warren. And, at times, Faith. The more human villains are the most chilling to me.
Also, the First is totally scary in Conversations with Dead People.
the character who is most like me
Hmm. In some ways Dawn, because I'm bookish and nerdy like she is but was never socially The Nerd like Willow is (like Xander, I got teased for other reasons). I was once part of a political organisation full of super smart, ambitious, amazing people, and I have never felt more like Xander (that is more or less the origin of my pseud, although it's also just that I found the phrasing funny). I'm not like Buffy, but she is definitely a source of inspiration to me IRL.
hottest looking character
Tara and Giles. <3
one thing I dislike about my fave character
Buffy's speeches in Season 7 annoy the shit out of me.
one thing I like about my hated character
Sorry, I love everyone in this bar. Even the commonly hated characters like Xander, Riley, Rona, Andrew, and Kennedy.
OK, I mean I don't like, e.g., Warren, but I'm not supposed to.
a quote or scene that haunts me
When Faith tries and fails to befriend Buffy, especially when she does the Girl-Solidarity thing and humiliates Scott Hope in front of his date. I understand why Buffy didn't want to be friends with Faith, but there are some moments when you see so clearly how things might have turned out differently, and they make me ache for Faith.
The first act of The Body. All of Restless.
"The hardest thing in the world is to live in it."
Sarah Michelle Gellar's performance of "Something to Sing About" in Once More With Feeling. That song guts me every time.
The way Buffy says "You're in love with pain" to Spike while fighting in Smashed. She shows so much hate at him and herself in that moment.
a death that left me indifferent
Spike's. I always knew he was coming back on Angel, but that's not the only reason -- after all, I know that Angel comes back after S2 but his "death" is always a huge blow because of what it does to Buffy. Spike is one of my favourite characters, but his death never had much impact. It's meant to represent his redemption, but that question is re-opened so much in Angel that it doesn't really work. And its effect on Buffy is ambiguous at best.
a character I wish died but didn’t
If you accept the comics as canon, then fucking Warren. Piece of shit should have died at the end of S6.
OK, never mind, comics aren't canon. I can't think of anyone!
my ship that never sailed
Well, if comics aren't canon, then Buffy/SoulfulSpike. I know there is a lot of shippiness at the end of S7, but it's open and ambiguous as is probably appropriate for the tone of the show at that point.
Really, I just want Buffy to have sex and not get punished. I think she could have that with Spike.

Yeahhhh, that would be nice.

the character I least understand
Possibly Mycroft, although that could be more a case of not caring to understand.
interactions I enjoyed the most
Joan and Sherlock in the S1 episode Snow Angels.
the character who scares me the most
Moriarty, I suppose? She was pretty intimidating.
the character who is most like me
I have a bit of Joan's tendency to want to reset her life.
hottest looking character
Sherlock, Alfredo, and Joan.
one thing I dislike about my fave character
I wish
the writers were more interested in Joan's perspectivesJoan would say what she's thinking.one thing I like about my hated character
Mycroft provided Joan with some good sex?
a quote or scene that haunts me
There were probably some, but I don't remember. :(
a death that left me indifferent
As with pretty much all fandoms I did this meme for: I can't think of any. Including the unnamed characters who are killed off at the start of the episode to tease the mystery. I just...don't generally react to death on television that way.

the character I least understand
Hmmm, probably Ephiny. I liked her, and wanted to get to know her better. I wish the show had given me the chance, but all the open-minded Amazons are always getting killed off!
interactions I enjoyed the most
Xena and Gabrielle declaring their love for each other in, like, every episode.
the character who scares me the most
Callisto, I guess?
the character who is most like me
Hmmm. I don't think I'm much like any of them, but younger me might have been a lot like Gabrielle.
hottest looking character
Najara. Especially when she wears a cloak. Also Xena in different battle gear, and/or a cloak.
one thing I dislike about my fave character
Huh, I'm not even sure who my fave character is? Gabrielle is the character whose arc I find most fascinating, but I'm not sure I actually love her more than I love Xena. Well, let's just say it's Gabrielle: I was deeply, profoundly upset by her betrayal of Xena in The Debt. I mean, it's central to a huge arc for her, and she Learns Better, but it casts a lot of doubts her role as Xena's moral compass.
one thing I like about my hated character
There's a list of young, hot-headed, hide-bound Amazons that annoy me to all hell, then learn better and become great. Amarice is the most prominent example but I know there was at least one more later on. I came to like her a lot, just in time for her to get killed.
a quote or scene that haunts me
In a good way: Xena's visions of Gabrielle's death throughout Season 4. (How did they pull of the haircut?)
In a bad way: everything to do with the cannibals in The Abyss. From the gruesome, sickening processing of Gabrielle to the racist coding of indigenous cannibals to Xena killing ALL OF THEM (i.e. committing genocide). The Xena/Gabrielle content in that episode is *wonderful*, I love it dearly. But the cannibal stuff is unwatchable.
a death that left me indifferent
None that I can recall, although there were many. Probably there was one or two I didn't care about. (But even saying "thank fucking god they are finally dead" is not indifference.)
a character I wish died but didn’t
I wanted Ares dead after Soul Possession
my ship that never sailed
My main ship is Xena/Gabrielle, and I am declaring it 100% out on the open seas. However, I also kinda ship M'Lila and Lao Ma -- a direct consequence of making a vid. I want someone to write an AU fic where they meet and bond over how OTT Xena is and fall in love and don't die.
no subject
NAJARAAAAAAAA, lord, she was so hot. She bugged me like hell but she was great to look at, ha. And I too wished Ares dead, but even earlier than Soul Possession. Ares was pretty erratically scripted, I always thought.
I also have trouble with The Debt, even now. We rewatched that arc recently and it was even more incomprehensible to me this time around. I just can't believe Gabrielle would ever have done that. Still, I was always so very glad that Xena really did kill Ming T'ien. I loved Lao Ma so much! I've always wanted to read a Lao Ma/Xena epic that explores their love and how it changed Xena, but I would so very much be there for M'Lila/Lao Ma too!
