frayadjacent: peach to blue gradient with the silouette of a conifer tree (BtVS: Willow and Tara)
I've been enjoying The Toast -- especially their comedy posts -- for a few months now, but I only discovered Femslash Fridays today.  Work procrastination, here I come!

The Buffy/Faith entry is mostly a reminder of why I avoid BtVS meta by people who aren't as crushingly emotionally invested in this show as I am.  They quip, I go, "but ... but..." in my whiniest voice.  Alas, as interesting as I find Buffy & Faith's dynamic, this is not the pairing for me.

The Sansa/Brienne entry, on the other hand, shows that my love of butch/femme easily overcomes problems like unfamiliarity with the source.  (OK, I am vaguely familiar with the source via fannish osmosis.  This is just another reason why I'm sad I'll never watch or read it.)

You know those women who out-gentleman every man you’ve ever met in your life? The ones who take the weird toxic masculinity of our society and refine it into an art form that involves less misogyny and more pocket squares? Brienne is that woman.

The Kaylee/Inara section, of course, is perfect.  Who else thought these two were a couple the first time you saw "Serenity"?  I mean, the way they say, "hey you" is just all sorts of sexy.

I like memes.  I like how they get me posting.  I especially like memes with questions that draw out a substantive response rather than just yes/no/link here etc.  So I'm going to do the TV meme, which I last spotted over at [personal profile] deird1's page.

Day 01 - A show that never should have been cancelled:

Ooh, this is a tough one.  My immediate response is Firefly.  I imagine that's a lot of people's immediate response.  It's one of my favorite shows, and it was way too short.  I'm not a huge fan of Serenity and would definitely prefer that we got that story, as well as The Shepherd's Tale, in a season or two of television instead of a film and comic book.

But at the same time, just that first season still feels like a complete package.  No, we didn't get any big plot arcs, and yes there are lots of unanswered questions.  But the end of "Objects in Space" doesn't leave me hanging.  It leaves me feeling all the affection for these characters that the other episodes already earned.  And yes, more is great, but I don't need it.

What I'd really love is a third season of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles.  The first time I watched I was let down by the lack of resolution with the S2 finale -- I'm not sure I realized that there wasn't a third season, actually.  But it was only on rewatch, when I more fully appreciated just how many plot threads and story lines and character arcs were coming to a head and left to dangle, that I realized what a loss that cancellation was.  I think T:tSCC is probably the only show whose cancelling has actually made me angry.

I was inspired by [personal profile] settiai to take stock of my vid WIPs.  I love vidding and I have so many ideas, but sometimes I get a little lazy, a little undisciplined.  So, if nothing else, I can use this to keep myself on top of my goals and how well I'm meeting them?

Maybe if I use Cinelerra and don't have to clip I can make these? Maybe???? )
