Day 8: Have you vidded with original source? If so, why did you use original source?
No, but I hope to.  I have a couple of vid ideas involving original source.  One is to support exploring themes that are an important part of the source but aren't obviously visualized.  The other is actually to use the fandom to explore RL stuff, so it'd probably be quite a bit of original source.

Day 9: Pairings: For each of the fandoms from day two, what are your favorite pairings to vid?
I guess I'll make this a theoretical exercise, since I haven't really vidded pairings.
Angel -- my favorite potential pairings are Lorne/music and Gunn/the good fight.  Oh, and Cordelia/Cordelia. What?!  I mean it!  OK, honestly there isn't really anyone I ship on this show.  But I must begrudingly admit I vidded Wesley/Fred, so I guess that's the one.  It is an interesting pairing (to me) mainly as an exploration of Wesley's messed up head.
The Black Stallion -- yeah, no.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer -- I like the idea of vidding Willow/all her suitors.  I ship Spuffy in S7, but I'm never gonna vid that.  Even though one of my very first vid ideas was a Spuffy vid, and if I wasn't sick of such vids I'd probably still make it.
Elementary -- the closest to a shippery vid I've made, I'd argue.  Huh.  If there were more (um, any) footage, I'd want to vid Bell/Ms. Hudson.  I got that idea in my head once and now I can't get it out.
Whale Rider -- Pai/leadership, of course!

Day 10: Pairings: Have you ever tried to vid a pairing you liked, but found you couldn't, or a pairing you didn't like, and found you could?
Not really, but vidding Sherlock and Joan's relationship was a little tougher than I was used to.  So much of their relationship develops around talking and exchanging looks.  There's less action, less doing things together, in comparison to, say, Buffy, which gives more visual cues just due to genre, I guess.  On the other hand, vidding Wesley/Fred is quite easy despite disliking the pairing.

This is a two year-old meme by [personal profile] sdwolfpup.  I'm resurrecting it to get myself posting dailyish.

Day 5: If you have ever had a character try to push their way into a vid, what did you do about it?
I can't say that I have.  I am currently discussing with [personal profile] red_satin_doll the awkwardness of including Warren in my Willow vid, but that was intentional.  The basic idea of the vid was to highlight their similarities, to use Warren as a foil for Willow.  I just didn't execute as well as I'd have liked, partly by dropping Warren in unexpectedly halfway through.

Day 6: When you vid, do you like vidding a certain kind of male or female archetype? (Credit to [livejournal.com profile] dualbunny for that one!)
Huh.  I don't think so?  I certainly know I'm drawn to certain archetypes when I watch -- most predictably, the Sidekick, but also the Ordinary Person Thrown Into Extraordinary Circumstances and certain types of rebels.  (Though that's a tricky one -- plenty of TV Rebels annoy the shit out of me.)

I'm more confident saying that, all else being equal, I'm a lot more interested in pretty much any archetypal character if they're not a cis white dude.

But I'm not sure any of that has obviously translated in my vidding, at least not yet.

Day 7: Have you ever had a vid (of yours) change your opinion of a character?
Well, "Maybe Sparrow" was meant to be a criticism of Wesley, and Angel writers' overidentification with same, but I think I ended up having a bit more sympathy for him.  Only a bit, though.

"Burn the Mazes" helped me detox on my Willow Issues.  I can love the girl again now.

"A Thousand Miles" may have given me some Joan/Sherlock shippery feels...at least a few times.
