That End of Year Vidding Meme has the category "Most Unintentionally Telling Video". I usually skip that one because I don't even know what that means. Until now, anyway.

I realized that my WIP unintentionally shows that the most important relationships for Buffy -- to me -- are her relationships with Dawn and with Willow. (Giles is also super important to me! But he didn't make it into the vid as much.) I've spent a lot of time thinking about and discussing her relationships with Angel, Riley, and Spike, and there's a lot of important stuff about her character in there. But at the end of the day, it's all about Buffy & Dawn, Buffy & Willow, and Buffy & Giles.

Totally with you about importance of Dawn. After all, she was created to be the most important person in Buffy's life, she is created for Buffy and out of Buffy.

Well, they're not *huge* in this vid, which is very Buffy-focused. But when I needed An Important Person In Her Life, it seemed like they were the two that came up most.

Well I do have a year off coming up, I should sit down and make a list of stuff! It truly has been too long.

That reasons is usually TOO MANY PRETTY ICONS ;) I don't think I've swapped out mine for like two years at least, only because if I do try to, HOW DO I CHOOOOSE?? I have such a huge bunch of them saved.

hah also noticing I should probably get around to organizing my BtVS icons. When I started out, that was my one and only fandom so all the icons were character keyworded. Then SPN happened, and eh, still no big deal. Now it's a multi-fannish pit of doom and so I almost never use any icons that don't feature Buffy :p

Also, you are so much more multi-fannish than me! I just keep deleting other icons so I can have MOAR BUFFY FACE. Though there's a substantial minority of Xena, Orphan Black, and Elementary in there.

WE BOTH DID. Tho to be fair, I also re-labeled all my Buffyverse icons so I do feel like I ~accomplished~ something.

Well I started out on the straight and narrow, but then fannishly snowballed. Which is fun, no complaints! But Buffy is one of my one true loves, so the amount of icons will never diminish much. Mostly I start out with quite a few icons when I find a new canon, and then gradually they get whittled down. Exceptions tend to be sitcoms, because they have such fun expressive icons. I think Buffy is still in the top five tho? Unless MCU has bumped it down. There's an ongoing incident due to an influx of Steve Face *g* But I shall never stop clinging to Buffy and the Sarah Connor Chronicles, and that is just a fact of life yo.

Yeah, I'm the same way with the new canons and the subsequent whittling. I had quite a few more Elementary icons a year or two ago, now I'm down to 2. And then whenever I get a resurgence of Buffy feels I accumulate icons to match.

Good job re-labeling! I vidded for about an hour so I can go to bed with a clean conscience.

That's an interesting category. I often find that to be an intriguing aspect of fanfic -- the things I gather from it, especially for an overall fandom, by seeing what people really want to write about.

Yeah, I suspect that the vidding meme is adapted from a fic meme. And that category makes more sense in fic, because you can literally write anything, whereas with vidding you're generally limited to available footage. So, while personal preferences and whatnot certainly can sneak in there, it's probably generally less obvious. There's probably more "unintentionally telling" in terms of what kinds of characters or music or types of vids one makes, though.

True. In fact I think that vidding genres can be harder to pin down generally exactly because there are certain limitations and also, probably, because visuals are subject to an even wider interpretation than words.
