I like to change up my DW theme every so often, and on Monday I spent a couple of hours pouring through new ones before finally settling on the first theme I had when I signed up (but with new fonts and colors).
I also added some new icons so I'm back to 100! Now I just need to remember to renew my paid account in a few weeks so I don't lose 'em. (Note -- this is *not* a passive aggressive ask for paid time. I can afford it, so if you want to gift that to someone please give it to someone else!) Occasionally I consider just buying 75 icon spaces and giving up the paid account, since I mostly keep it for the extra icons, but, well, I like DW and want to support it.
I started the month intending to post daily. I did close to that for the first half, but the second half of September was more like 3-4 posts per week, which I feel fine with. I hope to keep up about that much.
In that vein, I'm thinking about starting (or finding) some sort of meme where I post about my favorite characters. Specifically women, but that's already covered under "favorite" (except maybe Gunn, Felix, and Giles, but I'd still need to get past my top ~10 to reach them probably). It started because I've been writing a Sarah Manning Is Awesome post in my head for the last week or so, and I'm basically always writing a Buffy Summers Is Awesome post in my head, so I'm thinking a meme will get them going. So, expect posts about them in the coming weeks. :D :D

oh so many pretty Buffy icons! I can see you're on a Buffyverse kick, yes I can ;) Oh, and I don't think you can actually have extra permanent icon slots without a paid account? Like, they don't vanish, but they go inactive. If I remember correctly, that is.
3-4 posts a week is great!

I have a few requirements: an uncluttered overall look, fairly wide entries (that's where a lot of the more tumblry layouts don't work for me; I like them on other people but not myself!), borders around icons, the icons being placed in entries such that there aren't weird text-wrapping effects, and the entry text being justified only on the left. I used funky circles for a long time and it satisfied most of those needs (though I also like multilevel tags and it doesn't format those well) but it justified text on both sides which looks terrible on a phone.
Anyway, yeah I always come back to blue, it's one of my favorite colors and all my other favorites don't work so we'll in large quantities for me.
I am totally back on a buffyverse kick. I mean I never lose interest in BtVS but I recently read a meta that was going around Tumblr, and it was all about how Joss Whedon writes women terribly, and while I have criticisms of many overall patterns in how he writes women and poc, I feel like there is also a lot of excellent characterization for Buffy and Willow, like some of the best character arcs I've ever seen for women or men, and obviously that's a subjective statement but I also feel like a wholesale dismissal of those characters is pretty damn unthoughtful. (And I don't buy that they're the exception to the rule, because theyre some of Whedons most famous characters, and I'd also argue that Faith, Zoe, Kaylee, Adele, and others are also great characters but that's for another day.) So then for comfort I went back and read some of my favorite Buffy meta (lol I always read meta for comfort, not fic, except for some reason Elementary) and all my Buffy feels resurged in full force.
That's good to know about icons, I totally didn't realize that. I've occasionally been tempted to buy more so I have more than 100, but I always have about 20% of my icons that I'm not using much so that's silly. However I do need to find an Abbie icon or two so I should clear out a couple of old ones that I don't use anymore.
I saw that you made a banner out of icons, which is awesome! I'd like to do that but since I'd be using mostly icons that other people made I'd have to ask permission and figure out how to credit properly.

Blue is gorgeous :) I also love green, but it's the type of natural forest green, which would be a tad too dark for an entire layout. Pale blue is lovely though.
I read a buttload of Buffy meta when I first joined fandom, but the past couple of years I mostly haven't had the brains/cope for it all. And yes, while I do agree that Whedon is by far some feminist ideal, damn he's written some fine characters and nothing makes that go away. Even though Dollhouse was a hot mess, I still think fondly of Adelle from time to time, that lady has staying power. And nothing can separate me from my love of Zoe. Buffy I'll have hearteyes over forever, that was like my salvation in Junior High. I was pretty much glued to the tv screen when it was on, by which I mean I was mere inches away from the screen, staring at it raptly. And of course recording it so I could watch over and over later on.
grrablargh I'm still behind on SH! But just the same, means I have four eps to tide me over before I get home to dl another month's worth of happenings. But some Abbie icon recs for yuuuu bc ABBIE *_*

Ahh right, well, you don't need to be fancy to make a banner? A screen layer, a soft light layer, some vibrancy, and boom. The excellent faces do at least two thirds of the work ;) Or you could maybe request one at

ooh, fandom stocking is not a bad idea! I've never done it before. Maybe I will also ask for the Lao Ma/M'Lila fic of my heart. Also it will help it feel like Christmastime this summer. :D
Thanks for all the pretty icons! So much to choose from now; there's a lot of great Sleepy Hollow stuff. I really like the ones that combine Abbie and Ichabod -- that's a very cool visual concept -- but I wish that Abbie's face was the more prominent one and not Ichabod's. :p
Heh, I discovered Buffy in my late 20's, but I'd seen very little television at that point so it still feels like my turning point show, the thing that got me fannish and whatnot. And since it was only a few years ago, as opposed to 10-15, I'm still hanging on when most of the LJ/DW crowd has moved on. At least there is old meta to read and old and new vids to watch/make.
