goodbyebird asked: how many vid ideas are you nurturing right now? Care to share any?

AKA Many Vid Plans post! I'll go by fandom. Intellectually I know I'm not likely to make all of these, but these are the ideas I'm actively excited about right now and mostly can't bear the thought of not making.

Xena Vid Series From Hell
2-5 more vids, depending on when you ask. The two I definitely still want to make are 1) a comedy vid about Gabrielle's Horse Fails and 2) an epic Xena/Gab vid that will be partly about coming to terms with the series finale. The first of these involved some of the most difficult song-editing I've done yet, so I figure I'm committed. The other three are 1) a "Xena has manpain" vid, which I've already planned out and will probably make, 2) a vid about Xena and Gabrielle's relationships with other women in the show (because damn there's a lot of women) and 3) a kink vid that I still don't quite have nailed down conceptually.

Orphan Black
I definitely want to make my OB kink vid. I'm also thinking about a clone ensemble vid but I might wait till after the third season. And maybe a Felix vid focusing on the less-awesome aspects of his relationship with Sarah and how it relates to his friendship with Allison.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Haha, more than I realized before making this list! 1) A Buffy character study, basically a counterpart/companion to Tightrope. 2) A Buffy-Dawn-Joyce feels vid. 3) A vid about Giles and Buffy that I completely clipped and subsequently lost interest in making. But I still hope I do. 4) A Willow-PoV vid about her friendship with Buffy.

Farscape
Aeryn character vid. I still haven't finished season 4 though! /o\

Aw, thank you for the encouragement! It genuinely helps. TBH, a major problem for this vid is that the song is by the Indigo Girls, a choice I stand by, but given that my current Xena vid series is also to them, it feels like a bit much. Also a little confusing. Even though I conceived of and clipped for the vid long before I thought of the Xena vid series. So we shall see.

ETA: if/when I do start on this vid, can I contact you for idea-bouncing/cheerleading?

I think it doesn't matter if every one of your vids is to the same artist! Look at all of us who obsessively vid Vienna Teng! I would vid every one of her songs if I could. If the song choice works, don't try and second-guess it.

And YES absolutely I am available for cheerleading and idea-bouncing! \o/ Yes yes yes. My canon knowledge of BtvS is not as encyclopedic as I would like, as I only came to the show relatively recently. BUT I suspect that is not what you of all people will be needing :-)

That's actually great to hear, thanks very much for saying that! (Both the encouragement re: song choice and the willingness to cheerlead!) And yes, haha, I suspect my knowledge of BtVS canon is encyclopedic enough for us both. :) In fact, someone who knows the source but won't, like, instantly recognize every clip would be super useful.

AERYN! The world needs more Aeryn vids! You'd think there'd be a ton but there really isn't, at least not that I've been able to find. Tragedy!

I agree about Aeryn vids! Actually, if/when the time comes to start the vid, can I pm you for idea-bouncing/cheerleading?

It was actually my most recent Sarah Connor vid, although hilariously the reclipping was like...over a year ago. /o\ The idea grew and prompted planning with old clips, then stalled long enough to require reclipping, and then stalled again for another whole year. And I'm probably going to reclip for Luther too, though that's at least in part due to source quality issues. It's partly due to just needing to get a really good handle on the source again too though.

I'm always available for cheerleading! Though, full warning, I haaaaaaaaaated season 4, like probably irrationally, to the point that I skipped a bunch of it and only watched it out of order and through my fingers later. So, um, I never stayed as in love with Farscape as I would have liked, though Aeryn is obviously completely amazing.

Heh, I am not particularly fond of S4 so far myself. I'm taking as long to get halfway through S4 as it took me be watch all of the first three seasons -- and only that because I want to watch/make vids. So there's pretty much nothing from S4 that would be important to my vid thus far. I just hope it doesn't make me not want to make the vid any more. :(

And I've been surprised for a while now that nobody's made an OB kink vid, so extra glad you have that in the works. These all look great tho, can't wait to see which ones make it through the wringer.

I'm so excited about all of these! (Is the "Xena has manpain" vid judgmental or wallowy? I'm intrigued by both, but would have to prepare myself mentally for anything too critical.) I haven't seen Farscape S4 yet either; hopefully I'll be caught up by the time that vid is happening.

Definitely wallowy. My nickname for the vid is tongue in cheek, though also pretty accurate. I kinda love how Xena and Gab get so many stories that are usually for white dudes, and this particular trope is no exception.

I'm only halfway through S4 of Farscape myself, and given my other vid plans, my Aeryn vid is a while coming yet.

My rewatch is only half way through Season 2, so it's going to be a while before we get to anything I haven't seen before. I only hope we don't lose steam.

I'm glad that was tongue in cheek! Xena defined for me the way to do it well -- she's the main character, so the show is about her reactions, but it never felt to me that it treated her pain over having done bad things as more important than the pain of the people she'd hurt. Which may not be the kind of manpain you're talking about at all, I suppose. Um, anyway, I am happy for any kind of wallowy Xena vid.

Yeah, I feel the same. And I don't think that Xena herself thinks her guilt is more important than her victims' suffering. But the guilt will be the focus of the vid for sure.

I hope I make them! I still haven't even watched a single Farscape vid, on account of not having finished S4 yet. It could be something already out there will scratch that itch, but from what I hear, Aeryn vids are surprisingly hard to find.

Farscape! OMG.
I haven't watched the show since it aired (although I bought DVD's a few years ago that remain in shrinkwrap). I wasn't into vidding when I watched the show or I think I'd have made all the bad vid ideas ever. Haha! Echoing the fact that I haven't seen Aeryn focused vids. In fact, the only one that comes to mind at the moment is a crossover femslash vid with Aeryn/Starbuck (BSG)

Your vid list makes me want to hurry up and finish watching season 2 of Orphan Black, too.

I adored S2 of Orphan Black. And it sort of seemed like other fannish people I know who were watching it did too, but reviews were sort of mixed? Anyway I think it's excellent. :D
