- The first character I fell in love with:
Willow! She was so cute! And she was a lady geek with an unrequited crush! What's not to love?
- The character who is my ‘baby’:
Buffy! Also probably the only character on any show I'd consider calling that. I just have all this involuntary empathy for her. She's my favorite ever.
- The character who I do not understand:
Huh. I can't think of any offhand. I mean, part of what I <3 about BtVS is that the characters all make sense to me. I can get what makes them tick.
- The character that I think the show ruined:
Um, none. The closest is Giles. Him leaving Buffy during her S6 depression upsets me, and his reason doesn't really work. I understand ASH was leaving the show, but I think they could have handled it in a way that didn't make Giles quite so cold/indifferent/oblivious to what he was doing to Buffy.
- The most attractive male and female character:
Ugh, Hollywood types are not often Fray's types. I think Xander's not bad to look at. I like his hair in Season 5. Tara is fucking gorgeous, don't let anyone tell you different.
- The character death that was the worst for me:
On first watch, Tara's. On repeated watch: uh, maybe still Tara's, in the sense that she never gets the respect from the show that she deserved. Plus that opening credits thing never doesn't piss me off.
- The character that is the most like me:
Probably Xander. I mean I don't have his personality, but I kinda really identify with how he isn't the one in the spotlight. I can take charge and I have plenty of leadership skills, but I also kind of like to hang out at home and have a normal slow paced life, and Xander feels like the only core Scooby who really held onto that.
- The character I think the writer(s) love:
Do I even need to dignify that with a guess. It's so obvious it's Spike.
- The character that I just want to be happy:
All of them? But in the wake of S7 -- Buffy. And Dawn. And Faith, damnit! I <3 her S7 stuff, BTW.
- My four favorite characters, past or present:
Wait, does past mean they were my favorite in the past but now they aren't? I guess it must.
OK: Buffy, always. Willow, because she makes me smile in early seasons and she's so well written and gets an incredible character arc. Like, those two have my favorite series-long character arcs of anyone anywhere.
Spike, because he's funny and his redemption stuff was so many leagues more interesting than Angel's. And I really like his S7 relationship with Buffy. However, fandom has kinda saturated me when it comes to Spike, so I guess that's more a past favorite than present.
I'm not sure I can pick a fourth. I kinda love everyone after that more or less equally. Maybe Giles?
- My four least favorite characters, past or present:
Oh, this will never work. There are no least favorite characters on Buffy. Not even the potentials. Not even Andrew. I'd have to go with random minor characters and nobody needs that.
no subject
Giles, why. :((( I was almost more upset about Dawn -- like, even if Giles really persuaded himself he was doing what was best for Buffy, that was not a good situation to leave Dawn in. But if it had just been framed as "Giles is 200% done" (and not "it is for your own good Buffy") I would've been so much less upset.
Tara is totally gorgeous. And yes, she deserved so much respect and aliveness.
no subject
YES! That is exactly how I feel about Giles leaving too. Ugh poor Buffy people are always leaving her for her own good.
And good point about Dawn. Not only is Buffy having a super hard time, but Willow is also going of the deep end with magic and he's one of the few that sees that at that point.
It also applies, though to a lesser extent, when he left Dawn at the beginning of S6. Like maybe she could use an older-than-20 adult in her life?

- The first character I fell in love with:
Veronica, of course. <3
- The character who is my ‘baby’:
Heh, there's probably no one who I'd call that on this show. I mean I take that as someone I just want to make a cup of tea and give them a warm blanket to snuggle because life is so damn hard? No, no one on this show invokes that in me.
- The character who I do not understand:
How about the Evil Feminists from S3. That was weird. And sexist.
- The character that I think the show ruined:
Um, the Evil Feminists? I loved it so much when they were throwing shit at the president's car because administration wasn't doing anything about the campus rapes.
- The most attractive male and female character:
Mac, with her new haircut, in the film. Hands down. And that cop that Veronica briefly dated has a very sweet smile.
- The character death that was the worst for me:
It was pretty awful when Logan's mom committed suicide.
Bonus Best Death: Aaron Echolls!
- The character that is the most like me:
Huh. I feel like I am too boring a person to find my likeness on television.
- The character I think the writer(s) love:
Logan, obvs.
- The character that I just want to be happy:
Keith Mars.
- My four favorite characters, past or present:
Present: Veronica, Keith, Weevil, and Wallace. I liked Logan in Season 1, in the sense that he was a dick but a well written one.
- My four least favorite characters, past or present:
Coming up empty again. I dunno, I feel like if a show has FOUR characters that I actively dislike, it's not gonna be a show I'm fannish about. Unless it has a huge cast.

- The first character I fell in love with: Cameron, for making me laugh?
- The character who is my ‘baby’: Yeah, no on on this show needs coddling from me.
- The character who I do not understand: No one I can think of. They're really well-written! They all have motivations that make sense to me, even when I disagree with them.
I guess maybe Catherine Weaver, since her goals never become clear over the course of the series? But that's a problem with early cancellation, not poor character development.
- The character that I think the show ruined: None. It did good by 'em all, IMO.
- The most attractive male and female character: Once again with my problem where I'm just not attracted to Hollywood types*. I mean, in one sense, they're Hollywood actors -- they're all attractive. But in the other sense, none of them is my type. Jesse is probably the closest.
- The character death that was the worst for me: Well, Derek in the sense that he was my favorite character who died. But Riley's death was the most upsetting, for I think pretty straightforward reasons.
- The character that is the most like me: Maybe Derek? I dunno I always identify with the sidekicks, ha ha.
- The character I think the writer(s) love: Cameron, I think pretty obviously?
- The character that I just want to be happy: Oh, Sarah. And Riley. And Derek. And James. And John. And Jesse. All the characters.
- My four favorite characters, past or present: Sarah -- her combination of badassery and desperation are really compelling. Cameron -- she's interesting, and she makes me laugh! Jesse -- her storyline is so interesting. Plus she gets to have Manpain! Derek - he's just a good guy? Or maybe Ellison. IDK I can't decide.
- My four least favorite characters, past or present: Same as all the others -- if there are that many characters I dislike, I'm not gonna be fannish about the show. HOWEVER I will say that when I first watched I didn't like Jesse AT ALL, and it still really annoys me the way the show Male Gazes her to all hell. But through fannish conversations I came to see how interesting and well-written and deep her character is, and now I really like her.
*for the record: I like geeky boys and butch women. Big noses on all genders are A+

- The first character I fell in love with: FELIX! Because FELIX!
- The character who is my ‘baby’: FELIX! OK I lied in my Buffy entry because I totally want to coddle him the way he's always coddling everyone else. OK actually I don't. I want Colin to.
- The character who I do not understand: Big Dick Paul. WTF is up with him right now? Also right now I don't understand Head Polygamous Creepdog very well, I mean I don't understand his goals, but I suspect I will.
- The character that I think the show ruined: No character.
- The most attractive male and female character: FELIX! He's so pretty, and I'm really loving his hair this season. And Delphine, I don't know what it is, in most ways she is not my type at all but I find her mesmerizingly lovely. Which helps for making sense of Cosima's relationship with her, TBH.
- The character death that was the worst for me: Amelia. I'm still really bummed that they disposed of her so quickly. She could have been great to have around later in the series. Plus it sucks they got rid of I think the only black woman character?
- The character that is the most like me: Maybe some combination of Felix (there's my sidekick thing again) and Cosima? Also, at my most badass I could be a bit like Mrs S. Though more S1 Mrs S. I'm not so good with the murder and the public sex.
- The character I think the writer(s) love: Allison. Felix.
- The character that I just want to be happy: Oh all of them, but right now, most of all, Helena. I found her to be the least interesting clone to me last season, but she's working so well for me right now.
- My four favorite characters, past or present: Sarah, Felix, Mrs S, and now Helena. I'd have had a tough time coming up with a 4th before this last episode though.
BTW, I know I carry on about Felix all the time but actually Sarah is my favorite. I totally have a thing for characters who are adaptable, who think on their feet well, and she has that in spades. I mean A LOT of tv characters have that because it's kind of necessary for them to deal with the shit that happens in televisions shows, but it's like, a defining feature. And her dynamics with Felix and Mrs S and now Helena kinda take my breath away.
- My four least favorite characters, past or present: Tomas. That dude with the tail. Leekie, last season, and BTW I think having him and Delphine in a sexual relationship last season was the show's worst misstep to date. I'm glad they've abandoned all references to it so far this season. But Leekie has been OK this season. Big Dick Paul, for most of Season 1, though now he plays a somewhat more interesting role even if he is still totally inscrutable.
no subject
I TOTALLY forgot about the Leekie-Delphine thing, wow. And now I am glad that the show did too, haha. I agree, big misstep. Just. No. I feel like the big reveal about Leekie was less impactful than it should have been, also, since I NEVER trusted him, so the fact he really is secretly the big bad is just like WELL YEAH. HE'S SO CONNIVING AND WEASELY! lol
I agree with you on like everything, although Alison is totally my favorite character, ahh. Followed by Felix! Alison and Felix team ups are my favorite things. I love Sarah a lot too, I don't think she gets enough credit. And +10000, Helena is great this season. I wasn't even TOO sad last season when I thought she was dead and now I'm super glad that it wasn't permanent!
no subject
ha ha ha ha ha that is hilarious!

Word.
I love your icon, BTW!

- The character who is my ‘baby’: Oh, none of them.
- The character who I do not understand: Lol. Ares? I guess I kinda understand him but sometimes he's all murder and mayhem but then he gets all sappy about Xena. I guess that's not weird. It just surprised me.
- The character that I think the show ruined: I wouldn't call it ruining by a long shot, but Callisto had too many epic deaths/defeats. I actually like the one that stuck, though.
- The most attractive male and female character: OMG this is so embarrassing but I kind of have a crush on Autolycus. /o\ I just find him really funny and charming OK? Also Najara is really hot with that haircut and cloak. I wish Xena and Gabrielle had cloaks on a regular basis. Their hotness for me really depends on outfit and haircut/style, and their regular looks (besides Gab's short hair) don't do it for me. But I'll take Xena in REAL armor -- or, even better, Gabrielle with that short hair and green-and-white Arc-Angel costume from the S5 premiere -- any day.
- The character death that was the worst for me: Um yeah the obvious one.
- The character that is the most like me: I don't have a good answer for this question in any fandom. I don't really care about characters being like me. I mean, many characters will have one trait that is like one trait that I have, but that doesn't really count.
- The character I think the writer(s) love: Callisto, clearly. :)
- The character that I just want to be happy: Well, I was pretty happy with Callisto getting a happyish ending, even though she hurt so many people. I dunno, Lao Ma? I want better for her than what she got for sure. BTW I just rewatched When Fates Collide and noticed a cruel irony: Lao Ma is alive in that world. :(
- My four favorite characters, past or present: Xena, Gabrielle, Lao Ma, and Aphrodite. :D :D :D
- My four least favorite characters, past or present: I know Alti is really popular but I find her voice so incredibly grating I can hardly even focus on what's going on when she's on screen. Hercules, can Hercules count? Funnily enough I considered Joxer for both categories: I hate when he's used for comic relief after say Season 2, but I like when he actually get's some character development.
I am have mixed feelings about Eli and Eve. I don't like Eli as a character in his own right, but I seriously love Gab's pacifism arc and he plays an important role in that. Still I can't believe they devoted the 100th episode to that clown. The opposite is true for Eve: as a character I like her fine, but I hate the fast-forward-time thing. I still wish they'd kept her a baby.

- The first character I fell in love with: I'm having a hard time remembering! I love Cordelia, but I know I didn't the first time I watched BtVS, and that might have been the case with AtS as well. So I'm going to go with Lorne, because I adored him pretty darn fast.
- The character who is my ‘baby’: Ahhhh definitely Lorne. Especially after his last scene in "Not Fade Away".
- The character who I do not understand: I've been sitting here for several minutes and I can't think of any. Which is a hallmark of a good show, I say. If I were doing this about Battlestar Galactica or Doctor Who, on the other hand, I'd list the majority of characters. :(
- The character that I think the show ruined: Oh, I know this one! All the female characters! No I mean mainly Cordelia. Her season 4 stuff is basically the definition of ruining a character, in my book. And I don't know about ruined, but I'd say they pretty much wasted Fred.
- The most attractive male and female character: Gunn, especially in Season 5 when he has a little hair and wears a suit. He wears suits really well. Cordelia is stunningly gorgeous in a pretty straightforward sort of way. As is Lilah.
- The character death that was the worst for me: Fred, in the way they totally fridged her and used her to develop Wesley, and in that it was genuinely awful and tear-jerking to watch.
- The character that is the most like me: Huh, maybe some combination of Fred and Gunn?
- The character I think the writer(s) love: Wesley.
- The character that I just want to be happy: Lorne! Ugh my heart.
- My four favorite characters, past or present: Gunn, Cordelia, Lorne, and Wesley in the first two seasons. For the record, I think Wesley and Angel (especially Wesley) are really well-written, but I don't like them.
- My four least favorite characters, past or present: I don't know about four, but I always had a super hard time connecting to Darla or Lesley. I just couldn't sympathize with their struggles or desires. I could intellectually recognize that they had interesting stories, and the way they related to Angel in S2 is really well done, but on an emotional level they just never clicked for me.
no subject
We are in agreement about Cordelia and Fred's treatment. *nods*
Also, I'm with you about Darla and Lindsey. You can say I only connected with Darla at the moment of her heroic death scene and I found her "vision" by Connor during season 4 really moving. Lindsey I didn't really connected during last season, maybe 'cause his motives weren't deeply explained...
no subject
I felt like Lindsey was ambitious and smart and also had a lot of class hatred, expressed as wanting to rise to the top/beat the other guy...and I guess that's about as far as I think about it? His obsession with Darla annoyed me, though. I like him best as a foil for Angel, especially in light of Angel's choices in S5 to join Wolfram & Hart.
(A lot of what I think about Lindsey is highly influenced by obsessive24's vid Cukoo -- I assume you've seen it? But it doesn't really help me like him or want to see him on my screen more!)
no subject
Personally I didn't mind Lindsey's obsession with Darla very much 'cause I thought Julie Benz and Christian Kane were great together. ;)
ETA: BTW have you seen astartexx's "Bite you" vid? It's Darla PoV, with some Darla/Lindsey.
