frayadjacent: peach to blue gradient with the silouette of a conifer tree (BtVS: everything wonky)

After an epically slow download (why Australia, why?), I finally watched it.  And I liked it better than I expected!  Which, honestly, wasn't a lot.  But it was fun, and I left feeling like I can enjoy the show for what it is -- something that is fun and stylish but lacking in charactery nourishment.

However, [personal profile] cesperanza has put their finger on something I vaguely felt about the show but hadn't articulated, in terms of how it treats its audience.  (Spoilers for this ep in that link.)

I also enjoyed [personal profile] calvinahobbes' observations about John Watson's eternal coming out.

Good links! I liked this episode better than I expected too. I'm worried about the dangling threads it left because what made this episode more enjoyable for me than the entire previous season was the way it didn't take itself seriously at all and focused on the human connections rather than the mystery.
