Last night I dreamt that I was a senior in high school, and a friend and I showed vids for the talent show. Except for some reason our vids didn't have music, so we were looking for some versatile instrumental stuff to play over the vids. I think we settled on selections from J Dilla's Donuts.

That gave me a grin when I woke up.

I tend to hold the view that my dreams mean little, if anything, but I do wonder if the dream was in part about my reluctance to share my vidding with RL people. Dream!fray was feeling pretty confident about it.

I think that definitely means you should share your vids with people irl! :)

I've been considering at least sharing a vid or two with friends who are fans of the source! I did that with my first vid or two but no one was that into it. but I've improved a bit since then, and I've made a couple of vids that I think are more accessible to non vid watchers (more popular music, the main point is "yay source", etc).

My RL people don't know about my secret life as a vidder, either! I've mentioned it on occasion, like that time I had to upload a vid at my brother's place when my internet was dead, or when my aunt asked me what I needed those video files on my HDD for. :)) But none of them seemed interested enough to want to see a vid or ask more questions, and I don't want to bore them with it.

Same thing with my online friends-from-before-I-started-vidding, really. I've showed one or two vids to a few of them, they'll say "oh, nice" and get on with their day while I get all excited by myself. /o\

I don't think they realize how much time I actually spend with that hobby, or that it even *is* a hobby.

yeah, my RL friends are probably not that interested either, but maybe a few of them would like some of my more recent vids.

when I first started, my partner would talk about my vidding to my parents, my friends, his cousins...finally I got him to shush up. lol.

I get the impression that a lot of vidders don't share their hobby with RL people. I feel like people will start to back away slowly...or at least they would if they had any idea how much time, money, and effort went into it. :)

Dream!fray knows no one can criticize her musical choices.

I'm open about my vidding in real life, but I've never shown anyone I know from offline (except my boyfriend) my own vids.

Or perhaps Dream!Fray was so afraid of her musical choices being criticized that she made a vid with no music at all? :)

Yeah, I always show my partner my vids. He cheers me on even though he doesn't get it at all.
