Angel: Gunn. This is one of my favorite icons that I almost never use. First off, aesthetically I really like it. I love the colors: the green background, Gunn's purple shirt. The colors are very rich, which I tend to go for. (Though in the last couple of years I've come to appreciate muted tones more as well.) I like how its framed, though that's not something I know a whole lot about. But I like how his hand fills up the otherwise negative space in the upper left part. But mostly I love it for the content: Gunn is probably my favorite character on Angel. I love his gang (which exists to fight the evil things that prey on their communities! so badass.) I love his commitment to fighting the good fight, both because it's right and because he genuinely loves it. I love his struggle to be seen as more than "the muscle", and the amazing character arc that follows from that (my other Gunn icon is more suggestive of this arc). AND Gunn is one of the few male characters on television that has the combination of likeable personality, depth of character, and good looks such that yes I totally have a crush on him.

Macaroons: Heh. I have quite the sweet tooth, and macaroons like this are SO DAMN GOOD. I want to eat them all. But this icon I more like for the aesthetics: again, I love that it's colorful, I like how the cookies are arranged. It's very pleasing to my eye.

Forest in winter: this is what the mountains in Washington state look like all winter long. That's just one reason whyit's the best coast I love living here despite all the clouds. I wanted an icon for my occasional posts about winter (ironically, most of those are probably about SAD).

Sarah: this is an interesting one, because I'm still not sure if the graphics on the left side of the icon are from the show or not, and what specifically they represent. That would be interesting to know! But what I like about this icon is the juxtaposition of Sarah, who spends her life fighting the future, and pondering the nightmarish world that science and technology can create, with representations OF science and technology. And of course it raises the fact that her own methods of fighting become so intertwined with the very things she's fighting: they jump through time, she fights alongside a reprogrammed terminator, John is always hacking computers even though she hates them. It's just a very interesting aspect of her character and general theme on the show. So I love the way this icon represents that. I wish I had more intelligent things to say about the specific cap they chose of Sarah and the way she seems to be looking toward the sky and the use of yellow to accentuate the sun shining down on her face in contrast with the darkness of the tech side of the icon...hey wait maybe I just sort of did! Perhaps the artist cares to comment? ;)

MULAN. I have invested so much more love into this character than her writing has warranted because BUTCH! That cloak. That HAIR. Her stoic yet transparently loving dynamic with Aurora. She sends my heart all pitter-patter, I just -- Wait. I'm supposed to be talking about the icon. I love how it captures these elements that I so love about Mulan. First off, it captures THAT HAIR. Second, the color and lighting effects the artist used are really pretty, and if I may be so bold as to interpret such things, go well with her calm, considered, non-emotive personality. (One might even say stone-like, but no I'm supposed to be talking about the icon.) And I love that she is looking boldly forward -- I don't recall what scene this is from, but it looks like she's assessing a situation just before charging into battle to defend her feisty princess. Oh Mulan. <3 <3 <3

Quit procrastinating: Ha! DW is my procrastination vehicle of choice right now, so this icon is to help me remind myself to do my damn work so I can get the hell out of the angst-machine that is grad school. It's worked several times! Alas, I find this icon quite funny, but I don't care about Batman at all -- I haven't even seen the films -- so if I ever get around to making a procrastination-related icon that references a fandom I'm actually in, I'll probably replace this one with it.

1. Comment on this thread with "STOP MOONWALKING AWAY FROM ME!" and I'll pick six of your icons.
2. Make a post (including the meme info) about the icons I chose.
3. Other people can then comment and make their own posts.
4. Cycles of icon glee follow!
