In your own space, share a favorite memory about fandom: the first time you got into fandom, the last time a fanwork touched your heart, crazy times with fellow fans (whether on-line or off-line), a lovely comment you’ve received or have left for someone. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.


Of course there are lots of wonderful options here, from when I joined a Buffy forum in 2010 and came up with my online handle, to early ventures in vidding, to my first festivids, VVC, and VidUKon, and to the fannish home that I have found in VidUKon.

But a real treasure of a memory is when deird1, who I met here through Buffy fandom, contacted me because I was moving across the world to her city, and offered to pick us up from the airport and help us settle in. It was so wonderful already having a friend when I arrived.

That's a lovely memory, and definitely part of my fannish experience as well. When we're good, we can be very very sweet.

I agree -- I've met so many kind people in many parts of the world through fandom.

And thanks for the pointer -- I posted on my phone and couldn't figure out the problem there, and couldn't get on a proper computer.

Still hoping someday Dreamwidth will do a mobile app.
