Snowflake challenge 2018, day 1

I've decided to give 2018 snowflake_challenge a go!

Day 1

In your own space, talk about why you're participating in Snowflake and, if you’ve participated in the past, how the challenge has affected you. What drew you to it? What did you take away from it? What do you hope to accomplish this year? Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I apparently only attempted the challenge once before, January 2014. I made one post! /o\

But I like other people's posts, and I sincerely want to get back in the habit of posting and checking Dreamwidth regularly. I let my paid account lapse last October because I just wasn't using DW any more, except to post vids. But I like and miss people who are still active here, so I'm going to try to be more active as well. If I manage it I will reward myself by upgrading to a paid account again. So, well, I have a few things I hope to accomplish in 2018, and more time on DW is definitely one of them.

I like the idea of upgrading to paid as a reward! I am actualy pretty into paying for internet services (I pay for my email, RSS reader, pinboard, tunnelbear, as well as some of the regular streaming stuff) along the general lines of "if you can't tell what they're selling, it's you." <3 Dreamwidth!

Yes, I am all for supporting dreamwidth -- but I want to be sure I'm actually using it! I hear you about the 'if you can't tell what they're selling' thing for sure.

Yay! Apparently I've only done the snowflake challenge in odd-numbered years (I have tags for 2013 and 2015), and I completely missed 2017. So I think I'll start it up this week and be a few days behind too. :)

I like how laid back the snowflake challenge is. Of course you can do any challenge like that at any time, it's not illegal, but it's nice that they actually in encourage it.

I didn't do the snowflake challenge, but I'm all onboard for more DW posting - it's something I'd like to do as well. Other fannish platforms don't really work so well for me - twitter comes close, but it's one of those things were you can miss a conversation if you aren't around when it happens.

Same. Also twitter is bad for my grasshopper brain. I find if I'm on twitter (or facebook, or reddit, or any other scrolly social media site) that it makes it much harder for me to focus.

Thank you! I'm excited too -- DW is so much better for my mental health/ability to concentrate than the other social media sites I tend to frequent.
