TV what I've been watching

I've watched a lot of TV lately!
Elementary: I've made individual posts about S02E01 and S01E02. The third episode didn't inspire a written response. The politics were weird, but I guess what with all the PoI and Agents of SHEILD I've been watching I must be getting used to characters aligning with politics I find gross, so I was not really bothered? Plus Joan and Sherlock are awesome and make me smile. I'm missing Alfredo though!
Person of Interest: I'm all caught up on the show. OK that's not true, I haven't watched this week's episode yet.
I like it pretty well. I'm very pleased that Hacker Acker and Shaw have joined the cast, and that Morgan keeps making appearances, though I'm not that impressed with Shaw's characterisation thus far this season. She supposedly used to be good at blending, but now she's all eating meat on a knife and getting teased for not having a ladylike smile. I still adore Carter. She is my happy place. I love her heart and her spirit and strength and courage. I like how she just keeps getting in deeper and deeper with this shit. She's moving bodies! Holy shit. Oh, and Fusco? I like him, but come on dude, lay off the overprotective father-figureness toward her. It's annoying. I can see the Reece/Finch ship now, and I definitely enjoy their partnership, but actually I prefer Reece/Morgan in terms of sexual chemistry.
Also: holy fucking shit I want all the Root/Shaw fic right now. Those two are hot.
The populist politics of the show are sort of interesting. It's pretty anti-rich people, except cool rich people like Finch, and not really at critical of the system that makes people rich. It's pretty anti-military and almost surprisingly anti-CIA, but very pro-soldier. It's all about the good cops and the bad cops, and the institutional critiques of the NYPD are about corruption, not the problems with things that are totally above the board and legal for cops.
I mean, I don't really expect television shows, especially on US networks, to reflect my politics AT ALL, so I'm not so much expressing criticism or disappointment as much as I am trying to understand how the show negotiates politics that sometimes seem pretty left-leaning but other times seem pretty reactionary. Populist is the word I keep landing on.
Once Upon a Time:
lakedesire got me to watch this season by strongly suggesting I'd like episode 3. And, OK, it was cool that Mulan is canonically in love with Aurora, but I really don't need an unrequited love story between two women like that. Especially MY SHIP. Ugh. Well we'll see. The team adventures in Neverland are pretty fun, and Tinkerbell is a cool addition to the group. I like Peter Pan as a villain. Hook's been more fun, as most of my rlist seems to agree.
Snow repeating the power of believing in happy endings was getting really fucking old for me, but it occurs to me that they might be setting her/us up for heartbreak when it turns out that believing isn't enough to save Charming from the poison arrow. Probably not though.
Agents of SHEILD: I've watched the first few episodes. I'm entertained enough to keep watching. I hear the internets, predictably, already hates Skye. But she's a big part of what makes it tolerable for me, because I like how the show is using her to question SHEILD in ways that feel more organic than if the questions were coming from within. I like her shifting and unpredictable loyalties. Also, Mae is awesome and I want to learn more about her -- and I feel confident I will. Simmons is totally charming and adorable.
