DAMN but this is gorgeous, and the editing is incredible -- it's a beautiful individual and collective character study, and also you've really done an amazing job using the style and strengths of the animation to create a very particular mood and world.

God, that was fucking lovely. I really appreciate the thematic movement from a personal story of Pearl's fragility to the larger story about colonization and how we all have to overcome our own issues to come together to defeat the larger issues of the world -- and only when we do that can we be whole. This is just a brilliant, perfect summary of the deeper themes of the show. And you use the repeating motifs around Pearl's character -- the shattered/weeping eye, the Pearlbot, the covered mouth -- so effectively.

The technical aspects of the vid are great. And I have to admit that I'm not conversant enough in the language of vidding to understand everything that's going on (and that's with having seen all of the original Steven Universe, so I'm not approaching this without knowledge of the character).

It's still excellent, and I enjoyed the story the vid tells.

Oh man, I don't know where to start with this, it's just so impressive. The editing is amazing - your late-stage use of the paneling effect is so smart. The facets, the edges of the jewels, beautiful and whole, but disconnected and divided, sharply. All of them here, but especially Pearl, in so many iterations of brittle rigidity, but trying slowly, slowly, to become flexible. To survive the heat and fire of change and be something new, and stronger, but not harder.

I love this so much.
