yeah, same here! I don't have any links on the topic, just the book (called Our Magnificent Bastard Tongue, by John McWhorter -- I'm listening to the audiobook), but if you want to check out free stuff by him before buying the book, his podcast is Lexicon Valley. The episode on the history of nursery rhymes does talk about Celtic* words for numbers that are still in some English language nursery rhymes, but I don't recall any episodes talking about grammar. It's a great podcast overall -- listening to it is what got me wanting to read, or rather listen to, his books.

*The evidence for this is in similarities to the Welsh words, but I say Celtic rather than Welsh because I *think* that this stems back to the times of early/proto-Welsh, and may in fact come from a different Celtic language that is just related to Welsh.
