Steven Universe

Is anyone watching Steven Universe? I would love to talk about the last two episodes: "Catch and Release" and "When it Rains".

OMG Peridot! I figured she'd come around to the Crystal Gems' side but it's working so well. Eeeee she's adorable and hilarious and still totally amoral. She has fantastic chemistry with Steven. (not sexual chemistry! Ally chemistry!)

GARNET FINALLY TOLD STEVEN SHE LOVES HIM.

What did you all think?

PERIDOT. Yeah, I don't think anyone was surprised that she eventually came round to Team Steven (it's impossible not to come round to Team Steven! he just ... assumes that you will so hard that EVENTUALLY YOU GO ALONG WITH IT. Someday Jasper too will probably be caught this way) but I did not expect how hilarious it would be as she did ...

I am curious about how back-to-back, temporally, those two episodes were -- I don't think we've gotten anything quite that directly serialized since Jailbreak. I'm wondering if the next one will pick up immediately after as well.

Steven is a walking, talking Trojan Horse. Except one that surprises you cookies and ice cream, not a murderous army.

Awww man, yeah I loved it. I mean I figured at some point there'd need to be like, a redemption arc or something, but I'm glad that the show kind of went, "guys, you all know this is coming so let's just get to it," and like... Peridot is GREAT because as you say, she's completely amoral still, but the fear she exhibits, and the fact that she seems to see everything as a potential weapon, hinting that she's come from such a toxic and terrifying environment, gives you a real sense of empathy too?

The way she assumes that Steven just knows everything about the entire planet kind of broke my heart as well as being totally hilarious. It's like...her whole world view. The show is really good at hinting things without having to explicate them.

And YAY Garnet did tell Steven she loved him! Honestly my assumption is that this is not the first time, it's just the first time we've seen it on the show, but that did not make it less adorable.
