Meme Questions )
frayadjacent: Buffy smirking over Giles with quarterstaff (Default)
This is a two year-old meme by [personal profile] sdwolfpup.  I'm resurrecting it to get myself posting dailyish.

Day 5: If you have ever had a character try to push their way into a vid, what did you do about it?
I can't say that I have.  I am currently discussing with [personal profile] red_satin_doll the awkwardness of including Warren in my Willow vid, but that was intentional.  The basic idea of the vid was to highlight their similarities, to use Warren as a foil for Willow.  I just didn't execute as well as I'd have liked, partly by dropping Warren in unexpectedly halfway through.

Day 6: When you vid, do you like vidding a certain kind of male or female archetype? (Credit to [livejournal.com profile] dualbunny for that one!)
Huh.  I don't think so?  I certainly know I'm drawn to certain archetypes when I watch -- most predictably, the Sidekick, but also the Ordinary Person Thrown Into Extraordinary Circumstances and certain types of rebels.  (Though that's a tricky one -- plenty of TV Rebels annoy the shit out of me.)

I'm more confident saying that, all else being equal, I'm a lot more interested in pretty much any archetypal character if they're not a cis white dude.

But I'm not sure any of that has obviously translated in my vidding, at least not yet.

Day 7: Have you ever had a vid (of yours) change your opinion of a character?
Well, "Maybe Sparrow" was meant to be a criticism of Wesley, and Angel writers' overidentification with same, but I think I ended up having a bit more sympathy for him.  Only a bit, though.

"Burn the Mazes" helped me detox on my Willow Issues.  I can love the girl again now.

"A Thousand Miles" may have given me some Joan/Sherlock shippery feels...at least a few times.

Requisite navel-gazing. )

frayadjacent: Buffy smirking over Giles with quarterstaff (Vid all the things!!!)
I was inspired by [personal profile] settiai to take stock of my vid WIPs.  I love vidding and I have so many ideas, but sometimes I get a little lazy, a little undisciplined.  So, if nothing else, I can use this to keep myself on top of my goals and how well I'm meeting them?

Maybe if I use Cinelerra and don't have to clip I can make these? Maybe???? )
frayadjacent: Buffy smirking over Giles with quarterstaff (vid all the things?)
OMG how do people viiiid?????  I am so bored of clipping.  I need a snack, maybe?

In other news, I went on my first run in almost 3 weeks.  Cramps + migraines + sinus infections conspired to get me irrecoverably off the half-marathon training path.  :(  Well, at least I'm running again.
frayadjacent: Buffy smirking over Giles with quarterstaff (BtVS: Scooby Gang (Chosen))
I'm vidding a show I don't know as well as the other shows I've vidded.  And I keep learning new things about the show and discovering new feelings and I'm letting myself try stuff out without planning so much in advance and it's fun!  Also I laid down a couple clips at just the spot I was planning (on the bridge, of course) and then I watched six billion times and I like it.  :D  We'll see if that's still the case next time I open up FCP.

Tonight I'm going to try and get a friend hooked on Buffy.  So, time for a poll!

If you picked "other", what do you recommend?

Also I'm in the middle of season 2 of Breaking Bad.  More words to come!

...you communicate so much through words and exchanges-of-looks.  Great for watching, not so much for vidding.
